What is Cook the 'Hood?

Cook the 'Hood is a rapidly-growing Canadian-based project coordinator and publisher. We work together with business associations and charities to promote local communities, big or small, and raise awareness of food-related issues such as the importance of food security. We provide a marketing tool for a community's food-related businesses and raise the profile of local food-related agencies whilst also creating a mechanism to support those in need of food assistance.

Cookbooks With a Difference to Make a Difference...

The product is simple -- cookbooks! Not however, ordinary cookbooks. Our books work on many levels. Not only as a great marketing tool but they also showcase a community through its food and people while celebrating neighbourhood spirit.  The books provide thought for food and food for thought. They are cookbooks with a difference to make a difference. And we think our concept is unique in several ways.

Our past projects have involved socially-conscious businesses with some of the closely-guarded cooking secrets of
the area's best eateries. The wide selection of recipes truly captured the vibe of the diverse neighbourhoods.

The books also highlight the work being done to improve awareness of the food security issues facing all of us in today's society and aims to provide a motivation to get more involved.

Proceeds from the sales of each publication are donated to a partnering charity working in the neighbourhoods to provide food assistance to those in need.
